Sesame Street Too Hardcore For Modern Tots
From The Consumerist
:
"The producers of Sesame Street have slapped volumes 1 & 2 of the eternally running children's show with the following warning: "These early 'Sesame Street' episodes are intended for grown-ups, and may not suit the needs of today's preschool child." Why? Cookie Monster carries a pipe in one recurring parody—and then eats it. Oscar the Grouch is too grouchy and mean. And in the first episode, a grown man—Gordon—asks a little girl to come home with him for milk and cookies... and she does!

WOW. Way to go. I HATE children's programming today. It is either so stupid and I really think is lessoning IQ levels or ridiculously violent. Now I am all for certain kids of violence in my cartoons. I grew up watching Tom and Jerry and Loony Toons after all, but the constant inundation of violence and Teenage Muntant Power Hero crap isn't doing anything but rotting brain cells. There is no point to it and no intelligence behind it.
Being in the child care industry I get to see and hear all the crap that kids are watching and I am amazed by it. It is so badly written and sugarcoated. The fact that teletubies is appropriate and Sesame Street from when I was little isn't is mind boggling.
I miss the Muppet Show...

In my honest opinion...It all boils down to how parents monitor and educate their kids. Parents today are working crazy hours and are paying other people to raise their kids. Wake up!!! Our kids are in trouble. Sesame Street is not the problem!!
